This quote came to mind recently, but I'm paraphrasing it and can't remember exactly where it's from. I believe it's Shakespeare.
quote:I display a garment cut for general wear, and you claim it as your own.
It was in a context where Character X said something insulting and Character Y assumed that X was talking about him. It's driving me crazy. Any thoughts?

It almost sounds like OSC's Enchantment. When the guy is wearing the girls hoose to cover his nakedness? Maybe not...

It might not be Shakespeare, but I was relatively certain it was because it's linked in my mind with Shakespeare insults. I know it's not from Enchantment, because I've known the quote longer than that.
But while looking for it I came across this excellent site. It's a searchable database of authors and literature. http://www.online-literature.com/

For what it's worth - Google found this, supposedly from the movie Dune: "My son displays a garment cut for general wear. How odd you claim it to be tailor made." Unfortunately although the Google reference is there, the page seems to be gone.

Ah...now that could be it. I read Dune about the same time that I read King Lear so that might account for why they're mixed in my brain. And also why I had the impression that I had seen the line performed.
