I'm getting hammered by spammers trying to get access by submitting multiple registrations under varying names, hoping that I'll just let my guard down and let them in.

No way.

So, from now on, entry is strictly by invitation. ANYONE who registers without first receiving an invitation will find that their username is blocked forever.

Any member can sponsor a person and I or another admin will issue the invite.

Liberty Hall is located at http://www.munsil.net/phpBB2/index.php .

I don't get why anyone would want to join Liberty Hall so badly that they'd resort to this. What possible abuses do they have in mind? What is their master plan?

It's just a weird thing to do when basically anyone with good intentions can join by communicating with munsil-mania and explaining what those intentions are.

Or, rather, could have joined. In the past. Not now.

Creeps.

I've got this problem on my site, too. They're just creating accounts to post their weblink in their member profiles in my case.

I just make note of the domain name in the email addresses they provide when they register and simply ban that domain in the Administration Panel. Then I remove all their rights, change their passwords, and ban the user accounts.

It's been far more effective than just deleting their accounts.

I'm having that problem suddenly too, and am using Warbric's method.

And here I was thinking I might be up for trying one of these flash challenges. I can't see that I'd be able to produce anything viable, but it might help to give me back some of the drive that my mulish characters in my WIP are driving out of me. (If I give them something to do while slacking off, maybe they'll find a reason to get back to work in the main story, maybe?)

Anyone to sponsor me in?

Sure, I would. The most important thing about the flash challenges is not to produce something great (although it's nice when you write something you personally like) it's to continually write and force yourself to produce ideas. Also, you get better with practice.

okay, dpatridge. Register at http://www.munsil.net/phpBB2/index.php using the same username and I'll let you in wihtout any further ado. You'll receive a separate email giving you the info you need for our new trigger/submittal database system.

Actually, I think you're lucky not having to go through the old email system. Slowly, but surely, we're improving the process.

Yes, but I had previously noted your arrival at Hatrack as a new member, and monitored your activity before I let you in.
