Has anybody subbed to WOTF this past quarter (the one ending Sept 30)? I ask because I subbed a story back on 26th September, and have gotten no email confirmation. I used to have one within 8-10 days after the deadline. Do they still send those out? I know they've changed contest admins between June 8th and Sept 16th, because my rejection letter was not signed by the same person. I wonder whether they've changed the process, or whether I need to start worrying more actively.

I subbed for the same quarter, and also haven't gotten any acknowledgement. I'd forgotten about it, actually. But last quarter I did get an email. Hmm. I'll ask around on my other forums and see if I can find anyone who DID get an email saying the entry was received.

I did not sub to WOTF this quarter (my first missed quarter in a year and a half, actually) but I know that those e-mail confirmations are eratic. Sometimes I get them right away, sometimes after a few weeks, sometimes not at all. I'd probably wait until the end of the month and then query. That gives them some time to send them out but also, if they don't, helps convince them to be a little more consistent, whatever they do. Posts: 3567 | Registered: May 2003

I subbed also, and I also did not receive any email. Like you said, it usually shows up around eight to ten days later, but this quarter, nothing.

This probably doesn't apply, but I subbed near the end of July, and got a confirmation on August 6th.

Well, it does tell us that they still send confirmations Now all we have to do is work out why we don't get to join in the fun.

I sent my sub in at the beginning of Sept and did get an email aknowledgement. However, it did take longer to get it than it has in the past.

Well, I just got an email from WOTF, confirming that they received my entry. So maybe yours is on the way as well.

For what it is worth, I just learned from someone who has submitted multiple times to WOTF that as a general rule, the better you do in the contest the longer it takes them to respond. So, a long response time MIGHT be a very good thing.
Edited because I am a doofus at times.

I think they mean response times to let you know if you are a finalist or whatever, not acknowledgement of getting the story.
Last quarter I got an email telling me my story was received about four days after sending it. But I didn't get my quarter finalist notification until a couple weeks after people started hearing about the results.

Mine could be taking a while because it is on the bottom of the pile for being submitted in August.

Yeah, I thought of that as well. They might be working backwards from the top of the pile for sending out acknowledgements. But ChrisOwens subbed in July and got no trouble. This sounds more like a case of erratic confirmations (or lost mail, but I sincerely hope not).

About 2 1/2 to 3 months after the quarter is over. Usually just before the deadline for the next quarter.

I submitted September 5th and received an email confirmation on September 22nd. Then I submitted a second story on October 26th but have not received a confirmation on that one yet as of November 22nd.
