Mmkay, I tried asking this question on an already-existing WotF thread, but no luck. So I'm making one of my own.

I was browsing http://www.writersofthefuture.com a couple days ago and I noticed that the rules there say that the prize for the year's overall winner is $5,000 additional. It used to be $4,000 additional. I'm only up to volume 20 right now, but it also says $4,000 additional. So my question is this: was that a typo on the site, or has the prize money been increased?

I don't know, but for me to place anywhere that gave me a prize would be fine.

If you want to find out, I'd suggest sending an email to the contest administrator and ask them. You can find the address on the contest website. They're very friendly and helpful and don't mind answering questions like this.

Yes, at last year's ceremony they surprised the grand prize winner with a $5000 check instead of just $4000.
