Saw this on CNN today - they have a section where you can contribute your own stories/perspective articles or videos and some may end up on CNN. But most importantly, they had this interesting link to "The Ingredients of a Good Story." While this is obviously coming from a news/journalism angle, there's plenty to mine from here for fiction writing:
