I signed up to go to this just the other day. Is anyone else here in the general Colorado or Wyoming area going to be attending? The fee is a little high, and it's not specifically genre, but they look to have some excellent workshops.

Here's the link to the webpage and workshop schedule:

And because I'm a crazy, ridiculous person, I've signed up for an agent pitch session. I do have confidence in my novel, but I've never done anything approaching this before. So I'm sure that once I do some research, I'll be back again to post about that.

Hope to see a few of you there!

Good luck at that. I hope your pitch goes well. Someday I hope to be able to go to a writers workshop.

I'd planned on attending before realizing I can't afford the fee. Anyway, I'm scheduled for all-day diversity training on the third.

Have fun, BoredCow. The pitch session will be a good experience regardless of how much interest the agent shows.

Want to practice the pitch here (or in the F&F for novels area)?

Thanks for asking, aspirit.
It actually went quite well. I got into see two agents (one just who happened to have an open space by chance), and both were interested in seeing partials of my novel.

So I'm pretty excited about that, and am now frantically working through my first five chapters. I believe partials are generally three chapters (yes? no?), but one agent did specifically ask for five.

Exciting, but much work. I shall now go post in the Novels section to ask for extra eyes before I send anything in...

A partial can be three to five chapters, depending on length. Some editors ask for the first 20 pages instead of a number of chapters because length can vary so much.

You are welcome to post your synopsis (the rest of the partial) here for feedback in the F&F for novels area, if you like. The 13-line rule doesn't apply to synopses, so you can post the whole thing.
