07-06-09 Did You Write?

This is a prompt to get some of us slackers to write each week. You know this note is coming, so the hope is that you will rush to get something written so you can report that you wrote. This is also a place to brag about your accomplishments, cry about your failures, and otherwise tell about what is going on in your life.

It is up for debate as to what is actually writing, but it really comes down to what you think is writing. four our purposes, I will list some things that seam to be acceptable as writing. What you choose or not choose as writing, is up to you.
All new writing. That is obvious. Editing, even if it is the work of others, is writing. Otherwise all our work would be our first run crap. Poetry is writing. Blogging, articles, technical writing, writing assignments, world or character building, as long as we get something on paper. E-mails can also be writing, as long as they are very wordy, and pertain to writing. There may be more, there may be less. These are suggestions for what is writing.

As for me, No, I have not written, and likely won't this month. Last month, I only posted 18 story ideas. This month I am catching up. I need to post 42 story ideas this month to be back to an idea a day. Today is the 6th and I am up to 10. Not too bad. It is fun to write like mad like this, even if it is not my serious writing.
Last week I was at 51 concepts in my compost pile. I have since posted 11 story ideas and still have 51 story ideas in my compost pile. I have been coming up with story ideas (with a little help from my writing partner) like mad. It is periods like this that make up for those weeks where nothing comes to mind. If I could keep this up until the end of the month, I will be happy.

AS to the question of the week,
No, I did not write.

DID YOU WRITE?

Yes, I did. I had a few ideas for other works, and spent some time developing other ideas in my own compost heap. Beyond that, I've still been making good progress with my WIP, Elemental. Wrote about 2200 words, bringing me up to about 25k now. I'm really quite happy with how that one is progressing, though it will need some editing for sure (what doesn't by then end?).

Yes. I wrote some on Dreamer's Rose as well as finishing a draft of a novella, The Music Box. I've also played around more than I should with a second, untitled Novella when I should be working more on Dreamer's Rose.

Yes!

I started looking at one of my favorite manuscripts-in-progress last night and ended up pounding out six pages before I went to sleep.

Yes! I love it when I can actually post to this thread.

I am knee-deep in editing my WIP YA sci-fi novel. So far this week I've finished my outlining of it. It's a backwards way to do things, but it's helped me out a lot. I wrote it in one fell swoop without thinking about chapter breaks and things like that, so my outlining is partly to serve as a way to find the chapter breaks, but also for me to check for holes (forced me to re-read the novel start to finish, too.)

I've got reams and reams of notes of what to fix now, and a lot of headway on the question of how the chapters break down. And a lot of work to do!

I stopped work on what I had been working on, dug out an old printout of a finished-but-still-needed-work story, and restarted that. I wrote a thousand words on Saturday, five hundred on Sunday...then Monday got kind of busy and things were crowded out.

Of course, things go faster for me when I'm revising...

Am polishing. Does that count? It's so much harder to do than churning out new material. Sigh. It doesn't FEEL creative. Has to be done, though.

Technically, I wrote. Don't feel like I got anywhere, though. A lot of time worldbuilding/outlining a story I'm working on, but I think I came out of the week with more questions than when I went in. Now I'm not even sure if this one should be a short story, novella, or novel :-/

Had another fun idea come to me last night, too. Haven't found the story in it yet, but it's another something toss around in the back of my mind.

I wrote. Started actually writing Panix in Pent. A flash. Rewrote a story from scratch. Revised some WIP.

I got a good 2K of misc. writing in this week (finally getting to the things that have been floating around in my head for ages) Now I've got to get back to work on all the things I'm suppose to be writing... sighs.

Yes. Week started off good, but ended bad as far as the writing went. Work work and work around the house. I did get 3 windows in though.

Yes, I did. I wrote about 2,500 words and updated my working notes for a supernatural science fiction novel. I also revised a poem and published a blog post (over 500 words) that relates to writing.
