So, I signed up for this summer, and they've cashed my check... but I haven't received a welcome packet or anything explaining whowhatwherewhenandsoforth...

Same deal with the Pennwriter's Conference for me, and that's only a month away. Might have to make a few phone calls.

You'll find a secret map on your doorstep the night before and a note telling you to bring nothing but a pen, a roll of duct tape and a bottle of water. Follow the instructions, tell no one...

But what COLOR duct tape? If you don't know what the colors of your army are, you're going to get lost even with the map... ;-)

Jamie, there's a story in that, you know. In fact, it might even work as a Writing Challenge.

Shoot. I hadn't heard about the duct tape. My note said toilet plunger. I'm so toast.

No, KayTi, every note is different. Each person is told to bring a different thing for the project, I've said too much already. Wait, no I was just trying to help. Please don't b--Carrier lost--

Yeah SLC international is about your only choice. If you have a tiny plane they have a tiny airport in Provo. You could do Vegas but it's about a ten hour drive. Then there is Denver which is about 9 hours I think, of course much of those hours are through a nightmare canyon. (By the way SLC is 20 minuets in good traffic.)

Twenty minutes is very optimistic. It's being held at or near Utah Valley State University so I'd put it at more like 40 minutes, but it's all freeway.

Thanks for the info. I may fly there and road trip back to LA. Of course if I win that raffle for the 2010 Triumph Bonneville 900cc, parallel twin I may break it in riding both ways.
Mapquest says the direct drive from LA would be just about ten hours.

Oh right, I was counting from my house, but I also said good traffic which qualifies as optimistic.
It's really twelve to LA, Mapquest doesn't usually consider the inevitable construction slow downs (The last two times I made the trip there was a major project going on in Vegas. Plus in the summer it's almost guaranteed in southern Utah.) Then add in bio-breaks.
