It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

I've been, of course, working on my NaNo novel since the first and have written 20,260 words since last Thursday. Before that, I spent some time prepping and managed to finish an out loud edit of another book. So far, this NaNo is going well for me. Looking forward to everyone else's reports on their progress, though I have been watching (and cheering for) my buddy list.

Also, a few of my projects in progress have been whispering. I had a talk with some twitter friends last night about one that I was concerned might be, well, taken badly by certain segments of the population. It's not so much that I worry about what people think of me. It was that I didn't intend it to be offensive. Turned out I was being a bit oversensitive on this group's behalf. One of them called the idea brilliant. Now I have to write it well enough to justify the comment. [Smile]

Some blog entries went up as well. Otherwise, a fairly quiet week of keyboard banging.

How about everyone else? Did you write?

-Julie

I have a few days off, so 'yes' (yeah!), I did write.

I'm writing the climax of my NOV tale, and it will be under 10K words! An alternate history, sf, murder mystery, upon a colony starship, with a smidge of Yiddishkeit.

Helped the author/book reviewer for Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine with his first novel query and synopsis. He was one who liked The Witch's Curse (my OCT tale), proving his keen insight for quality prose. [Wink]

As it is only the first week in NOV, I could possibly complete a second tale this month. That would be something.

Good writing to you Nano-nites,

Respectfully,
Dr. Bob

Yes, I did. I'm simultaneously working on the second drafts of BLOOD IS THICKER (95% complete) and THE BARD'S GIFT (38% complete).

Also two blog posts.

I would hardly call what I've done this week writing, or does creating a proper timeline for my story count? My biggest accomplishment was editing a 116K word manuscript for a friend. Made a few structural changes to my novel today, courtesy of my new timeline, but that's about it so far.

Phil.

I have written 40,000 words in a week. Can't you tell it's NaNoWriMo? Probably more of the same for the next three weeks. My target is 120,000 by the end of November.

Yes I wrote a short Fiction in one day. Semi-autobiographical. Sent it out to a bunch of critics. Who promptly called me and questioned the validity of the story wondering if it was from imagination or a true account. Finally after much badgering, checking of my sources, and haggling over payment - I finally got the Job. Darn those resumes are hard to write [Wink]

Nah. I've got something in mind, but haven't yet put my fingers to the keyboard to write it out. Maybe tomorrow.

I got an interesting e-mail about my literary efforts last week---I'd talk about it, but it's more in the nature of a separate rant rather than something appropriate here where we talk about our productivity (or lack thereof). If it even is appropriate here, that is...I'll think about it and decide later.

Unfortunately, I miscalculated the way my story tends to tell themselves, however long it takes, regardless of what I intend. [Frown]
My new story first draft is 11.5K words

As the Sages say, "Man plans; G-d laughs."

Respectfully,

Trying to. More Epublishing and struggling with cover art than writing lately. Have several in progress.
