It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

I launched into the April edition of Camp NaNo this week. My project this time is What Lies Beneath, book 1 in my Spire of Time trilogy. I've been doing well with it and ended the week further ahead than I'd quite realized. Somehow, I wrote 43,642 words last week. That was a lot of sprinting on Twitter with friends in #writeclub, but it works. of course, I'm nowhere near done this book and I'm beginning to fear the eventual length of this book. For now, I'm going to just put one word after another and see what I have when I'm done.

In addition, I wrote a few blog posts. I also had some bits of inspiration for story ideas in progress, adding to my notes on them. Finally, I'm working my way through criting one novel for a friend, plus checking a chapter for another friend based on feedback she received from me and others.

That's it for me. How about everyone else? Did you write?

-Julie

Julie,

43,642 word in a week! That's Heresy! [Wink]

Well, last week I wrote and sent my draft Q3 WOTF story (just in case) out for review to my Hatracker WOTF Group. If anyone else is interested in critiquing it, please let me know.

I'm tickled pink...(um, on second thought, that may not be an appetizing sight)...I'm happy that I kept the word count to below the SFWA-standard for short story length. If the story is any good, I will then have actual markets to send it to one day. [Smile]

Respectfully,
Dr. Bob

I spent the past week dying from the feverish delusions of sickness, sandwiched between two periods of being confused about life.

But I'm writing now! I'm writing this week! I've written 500 words between yesterday and today!

Onwards.

Julie, if I have failed to thank you for keeping this up, please forgive me.

And thank you, thank you, thank you, for doing this.

Yes, I wrote. Mostly on the WIP, "Magic and Power" (which may have to lose the quotes of a short and go all caps, like a novel). Almost 33,000 words, now.

Also two blog posts and getting started on a couple of crits.

Book 2 of my trilogy, WRATH, is up to about 40k words and I am barely started. This is going to take a while. I thought when I originally set a release of Summer 2013 that I was being generous. Now I think I may be cutting it close.

In unrelated news, but I can't stand not telling it, I got another 4 star review on ATHAME today. That makes me one 5 star and four, 4 star reviews so far on Amazon, Smashwords, and Goodreads. I'm a little buzzed over it.

Also trying to finish getting ATHAME ready for CreateSpace. Text is almost done, it's the cover art PDF that's a pain.

Nah. Mailed my finished MS from last week off, but life got busy and squeezed out any chance. I plan to get back to writing Sometime Real Soon.

You're very welcome, Kathleen. I found I missed it and taking up the job seemed more helpful to everyone (myself included) than just wishing someone else would. It's kind of fun, truth be told. Something to do Monday morning over coffee and I like checking in to see what everyone else adds as the week goes on. [Smile]

And Dr. Bob: [Wink] isn't it just? Rofl!

Oh, yes. Wrote two entries for the current challenge and then realised one of them, well both actually, were such that I could create full novels out of them. So, picked my favorite and decided to try my new 'writing method' out on it.

I'll tell you now that both the story and method are working very nicely. In creating the detail of the milieu the story is set in, I've just outlined another novel; the prequel to the current WIP. Yikes!

I'd love to tell you about it [Wink] , but that'd queer the challenge. Next week.

Phil.
