It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

As you can imagine, with July's Camp NaNo upon us, I did little other than write this past week. But boy, did I ever write. I hit a new record, 51,023 words in one week, and that included a new personal best for a single day of 11,585 words on Saturday.

I still have a long way to go though. I think I'm maybe a third of the way through, but it's always so hard to tell. Still, pushing onward.

I made some notes on a few ideas, particularly my fallen angel one and the one about vampires. A few new ideas as well and a few blog posts.

That's it for me. How about you? Did you write?

-Julie

Yes, I wrote. Finished the second draft of MAGIC AND POWER and I'm nearly through the (hopefully) final draft of BLOOD IS THICKER.

Started a couple of crits and wrote two blog posts.

Yup. Kept up the five hundred a day across the week despite trying times. (Well, not "trying" in the sense that much is wrong, just annoying, with a few exceptions.) I'm very close to the fifty thousand word point, where I intended to break off and reread what I've written and see if I can bring some sort of order and sense into the narrative---or at least find a good part for a beginning.

With doctor appointments, working late, projects at home, cooking experiments, I have not had much a chance to write.

I was checking some old records and saw that before the accident, I was running at around 40 notes in my compost pile. To show how slow ideas have been coming, I think I have about 63 in the compost pile. now, and that includes three stories I've written out.
That was one mental loss from the accident. One mental gain I have had is that I remember jokes a whole lot better. Someone told me that was a horrible trade-off.....

Yep, I did.

Novel revision, some new writing on stories as well as in the revision. And I added two stances on what I call a micro-mini epic poem dealing with a couple trying to get married but someone fighting them.

A few posts on G+, here, the WotF forum and seven Blog Posts.

One crit too.

Finished chapter 14 at 6,128 words and started chapter 15 and so far at 1,325. Both are rough drafts that need cleaning up and tightening up. But at least getting the words out of my head. Hope to take a writing vacation soon, but need to get over the new computer program going in at the hospital and setting up all my therapy evals, then maybe the first week or so in August! Happy writing everyone.

I write an entire draft first, too, Kelly. I also need to get the story out of my head before I go back fixing it--or I tend to spend so much time trying to get the prose right that I lose the flow of the story (A lesson I learned in my time here). Also, something I picked up from Brandon Sanderson is that a first draft is a time for experimenting, too. So, now, I tend to try stuff out that I might change later. I'm glad to see you're getting the words.
