It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.

Some more work on my outline and I got some traction reworking a short story for a friend's project. Almost finished that one, thankfully.

That's it for me this week. How about you? Did you write?

-Julie

I've written, but nowhere near as much as usual. I'm stuck on my WEIRD OZ STORY, which makes me think I've taken a wrong turn somewhere. It happens. Discovery writers do occasionally follow the wrong rabbit trail. Therefore, I'm taking a small break to allow my subconscious to work on the problem and doing some revisions to DESERT ROSE (formerly MAGIC AND POWER) and my rewrite of THE SHAMAN'S CURSE.

Also, a couple of crits and [url=MeredithMansfield.WordPress.com] two blog posts].

I wrote a short story (about 3,000 words) but then nothing for several days, mostly because I was fresh out of ideas. But today I've been at work fleshing out a new idea (or rather an old idea reworked). I'm relieved to have something to focus on again.

I didn't write right before I went away on a trip last week, didn't write during the trip, and didn't write the day after I got back from the trip---took a day to unwind from it, I guess. 'Cause I wrote five hundred words Sunday. (Today, I don't know---I was dreadfully sick earlier this afternoon, but that seems to have passed---literally.)

Yes. I've been plotting backwards through the building action. The opening has proven the most difficult because everything else, especially the rising action has to naturally and realistically roll forward from that point of departure. I think it is very close if not there now. Once I'm confident the start of the chain of events makes real sense, I can go back to discovery within the framework.

In short I'm hopeful that "Once upon a time there was... until one day when..." is there. Time to assemble the notes and do some arranging.

Oh, just saw you're including the whole week.

Last week I wrote 9,500 words.

I feel good about that, too!

>sigh< Just this moment completed my next novelette, with emphasis on "novel": 18K of which 2800 the last few days. Will wait a week, perhaps send it out for critiques, before beginning to cut.

Respectfully,
Dr. Bob

Dr Bob, why don't you ever try expanding into novels instead of always being long on your short stories? Seems to me your heart's into longer tales.

I wrote a few pages of story and notes. Maybe 750 words? Well, that's huge progress for me I suppose.

I read notes on two stories in progress that need to be worked on. I thought I was not going to get any actual writing done this week since I fired off a story in progress to my first writer.
I dabbled with a scene in a sequel to the story and last night I wrote three pages, 1400 words, of the sequel scene. If I decide to actually use this, it will require complete rewriting to become publishable.

I now have 100 ideas in my story idea compost pile. I started with 40 at the time of my accident. While it is a whole lot, the ideas are not flowing like they used to. They do need to be written into a more useable form but I don't have time. Meetings, appointment and work, along with household projects, kill any writing time I already have.

I only wrote a few thousand words this week on my latest novel. Sort of at an impasse plotwise.

I wrote good this week, I revised a 490 word story into a 720 word tale. I added elements to the plot, clarified two or three elements, deleted a couple of small elements and added descriptions.

I also wrote a flash story of 2,970 words. [Smile]

It was suppose to be flash that is. I also started another story with the same MC. I didn't plan on it but it ended up being about a guy in charge of a steampunk special ops unit.

Wrote some in a novel but got stuck between events.

Worked on my newest UF and Alchemist stories.

Did a few posts here, on the WotF forum and G+.

A crit or two too and a couple of E-mails.

Nothing on my blog even though I started a post.
