Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

  • What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
  • Describe what you worked on.
  • Set goals for next week.
  • Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

  • Writing on a novel
  • Characterization
  • World Building
  • Relevant research

=-=-=-=-=

Sorry for the long absence. Yes, I'm still alive, but not writing at the moment. I've been recoding my website in the hope of bringing in more traffic and more money. My wife wants to become an editor so I'm working on adding features I've always wanted in the hope of driving more traffic. We're hoping, over time, that the additional money will help subsidize her education for her English degree. Soon she'll be looking to get some practice editing (mostly content editing rather than line or copy editing).

Last Week's Goals

Had none.

My goals for next week:

  • Read

Just continue reading for fun (currently The Way of Kings)

What did I learn this week?

Nothing still.

Welcome back, William. We were starting to get worried about you.

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title): Nothing for this week again.
Easy goal.

MAGE STORM: Send out at least three more queries.
Yes.

SEVEN STARS: Continue revisions and try to get through Chapter 4.
Nope. Blew that away. I finished the revision through Chapter 12 last night.

BLOOD WILL TELL: Send out three more queries.
Nope. Only two.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes.

So, a pretty good week.

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title):
Nothing for this week again. I want to let it simmer just a bit longer.

MAGE STORM:
Send out at least three more queries.

SEVEN STARS:
Continue revisions. Six more chapters, or through Chapter 18.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Send out three more queries.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Yay, William is back!

I'm so excited about that, I'm not going to talk about myself at all.

Glad to be missed. Sorry for the disappearance. This programming project of mine has taken up much of my time and energy. It is a long way from being completed as well, unfortunately.

I met my goal of revising 7 scenes, and trimmed my word count to 119,235. I also learned the value of setting hard-to-reach goals, as I hit mine early and then spent almost no time writing the last 2 days.

For next week, my goal is to revise another 7 scenes, the last of which will either need extensive additions, or else an entirely new scene to follow. Hopefully I can keep it under 120k even with the additions.

I say nice to have you back too.

I however did zip with my novels, Oh, that is not quite zip. I formed and revised one chapter in Bright Lights. I say formed because my chapters are now all messed up. I'm going to have to redesign the novel after they all get critted.

And axeminister nice excuse... that is nice you can control yourself like that.
