I have always loved reading and only recently started imagining that I could be a writer. I am big fan of Orson Card as well as Murakami. When I read about how Murakami started writing, I became inspired to start. I started reading about writing and I have found that Orson Card has some of the best information out there. He may well be a better teacher than an author if that is possible. I realized that I really need to practice and practice some more before I can bear to write a whole novel.

Hi mattnnz. My good friend is also a fan of Murakami!

Good luck in your writing pursuits, and welcome to Hatrack. =)

Yeah, welcome,

You've come to the right place: friendly people, starting writers who know a thing of three about writing, and who don't mind sharing it.

Indeed Orson has some good teaching out there, even though he isn't the only one. It is a wonder how many pros like to share on writing.

However as you explore the treehouse do be careful. You never know what is around the bend,

Hi,

I started with a whole novel, and then took some classes. Finding out what to do after I'd done it in a different way was actually very helpful, the knowledge had something to land on. Either way, short stories or novels, there's something here for everybody.
