This direct to You Tube prequel (to be subsequently run on SyFy in FEB 2013 and released as a DVD) is now available in its entirety.

The reviews by bloggers vary from "let it die" to "hoping it will be picked up", again proving "there's no accounting for taste."

I'm more forgiving than most. [Could I do better? No. And I am thankful for more content of any series I enjoy.] I recognize and accept the webseries had a smaller budget than the award-winning television series. Machinima's utilization of state-of-the-art videogame CGI for special effects cannot always match the reality of the tv series' film quality special effects. Still, there was much that set the heart racing. As is the musical score.

The story of William Adama's first mission as a rook, his transition from the belief in the ideal to what is real and necessary, is poignant and true to life. Losing one's naivite, one's virginity (in more than one connotation), learning to see beyond oneself to the cares/pains and truths of others, is a good story, a resonating story. And to do this all within a short film while renewing the love for the created world of BG, needs be applauded.

No. It's not perfect, but it is time well-spent for a BG fan.

Respectfully,
Dr. Bob

I heard fairly good things about the revived series...but the original, cheesy, "Star Wars" ripoff version sort of spoiled it for me. That and times are crowded these years that it's hard to make room for anything new...
