Hey, everyone. I'm new but I just wanted to introduce myself as a writer. My name is Matt. I've been writing fantasy since I was 8 years old and I'm starting to move over into science fiction a little. My greatest heroes are Brandon Sanderson, Orson Scott Card, and J.R.R. Tolkien. I grew up reading their books as well as books from Brian Jacques, Terry Goodkind, Stephen R. Donaldson, and David Eddings. I've started reading Dune by Frank Herbert and I'm really loving it.

Does anyone have any suggestions for great science fiction I can read?

Hello! Welcome to Hatrack.

I have a personal fondness for Neil Gaiman's work. Terry Pratchett writes excellent comedic fantasy; Douglas Adams wrote great comedic science fiction. C.S. Friedman's Coldfire trilogy is a bit dense in places, but has excellent characters, setting and plot.

Welcome to the treehouse.

Suggestion: Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan saga. Seventeen books now with something for everyone, from science fiction romance to military sf.

Philip K Dick. Science fiction of the mind bending variety. I recommend The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch and maybe Counter Clock World, though most (but not all) of his are worth reading.
