Literary Boot Camp   -     CLOSED

Literary Boot Camp is open only to writers -- college-aged and older -- who are serious about professional level work. Following the two-day Writing Class, the Boot Camp writers go on with four intense days of creating and critiquing new stories developed at the beginning of the week - all under the leadership of noted author Orson Scott Card.

Enrollment for each Literary Boot Camp is limited to no more than 14 participants and is by application only. Those who wish to attend must register with a $175 deposit and submit the FIRST FULL PAGE ONLY (250-300 words) of a short story. Prompt application is advised. Tuition does not include housing or meals. The deadline for submitting writing samples is April 20, 2012; you will be notified whether or not you have been accepted by April 27, 2012. The remaining balance of $550 will be due by May 11, 2012. Those not accepted to Boot Camp will have the choice of either applying their $175 deposit to the two-day Writing Class or having their deposit refunded.

Note to Boot Camp Participants: You must bring a laptop computer with you to Boot Camp.

If you don't own one, please make arrangements to buy, rent, or borrow one that is running a recent version of Windows or Mac OS. Printers will be available.

Boot Camp Scholarship

Again this year, another former Bootcamper is providing one tuition-only scholarship for Uncle Orson's Literary Boot Camp. As a Boot Camp survivor himself, he wanted to help someone gain the advantage of Boot Camp who could not otherwise afford to attend.

If you are interested in attending Boot Camp but cannot afford to pay the $725 tuition, please use the scholarship application form instead of the regular one. One qualified participant from this group will be selected to attend Boot Camp on the scholarship. If you are selected, however, you will still be responsible for your own transportation, meals, and housing.

Please use only one application form. If you apply using the regular form and the scholarship form, you will be removed from the scholarship list.
