Background information: lost my job last year as a fifth grade teacher due to district cutbacks. This year have been working as a 11/12 grade special ed math teacher. I do not have high school certificate, I do not have special ed certificate, I hate math. So... this year has SUCKED!
But, I just got a call from human resources. The eighth grade reading position at my old school was just given to me. Not exactly my old job, but better!!!!! Today is a very happy day!
Only down side, and this may prove to be a difficult transition, is that the position is open because the teacher shot and killed herself. She had just been moved there from the high school and I guess was not well recieved. Kids, parents and coworkers alike did not like her. She is European, French actually, and was a french teacher. Why they moved her to a reading position is beyond me but apparently she didn't like it. Sad situation but... Still good for me even if this is not the ideal way I would have liked to move in.
