If this guy can get even a single vote.

Are there people in the US that would think this guy is a good idea for congressman? And if there are, aren't they too ashamed to go out of their house to the polls?

Never underestimate the power people have of convincing themselves that they're victimized -- white people and Christians have an especial talent for this when performed en mass, and Duke can appeal to the trodden white male and to the persecuted Christian. What with the number of darkies in the media and universities, and the obvious anti-Christian sentiment of that same liberal media.

Didn't a KKK member get elected as a Louisiana Representative back in the eighties? I wouldn't be surprised if Duke tapped the Southern white supremacy vote and comes out at least a strong runner-up.

To play the Devil's Advocate, it might actually be a positive thing to have this guy run for office. Given his KKK past, racial inequality could become a central message of the campaign. It would be sad if his opponet used a slogan like "Vote for me. I'm not a racist." But a smart politician could use this as an opportunity to address everything from unjust hiring practices, to underachieving school performances, to latent prejudice buried within us all. After all, how can society change anything unpleasant about itself if we're all busy pretending no one does that sort of thing anymore? Let us face our demons. May we be stronger for it.

The reason why I would doubt that happening is because of Jindal. He ran for governor but lost to Blanco. So now he's running for that position, or at least is planning to. Concerning that Jindal is Indian, I'd really like to see that.

*sighs* sadly, I think he may well get votes. Probably not enough to get elected though. in fact, almost certainly not enough to get elected, but he'll get votes.

If you're considering a run for Congress and the subtitle to the article announcing this is "Could be released from prison in April"....then doesn't that say something about you?

Eugene V. Debs ran for president while in prison. Of course, he was a socialist, so who knows what kind of crazy things he might have done, but the point is it seems to have been taken in stride.

BTW, Eddie, I believe the Louisiana politician you are referring to was none other than Mr. Duke himself. He was a state representative... not, I believe, a national one.

Sadly, just being a white supremacist is bound to get him some votes from other white supremacists.... however I sincerely doubt they are enough a political force, even in Louisiana, to get him elected.
