What do you think the world is going towards? Doom? WW3? A meteor? Prosperity? A digital age the way Assimov saw it?

I think we go to a companies world. Today, Nike budget is around the same than Romania. I think we go to a Cyber Punk futur, as Blade Runner's way of life.

Population growth can not last indefinitely. There will come a time when a lot of people die. The mass die-off could be cause be nuclear bombs (like in Japan), tribal killing or gang war-fare (like in Africa), biological attacks (like the Indians), or by a meteor or environmental change (like the dinosaurs).
Oh wait. Many people have already experienced an apocalyptic disaster. When an individual dies, it is the end of their world.
Two things are certain: Life is not meant to be survived and we have more people now on the planet then ever before.
We have gotten very good at killing each other, so I am guessing Nuclear War or a Biological plague/attack will be what wipes out a lot of us.
Ultimately I think people will survive in a Mad-Max type world--until they rebuild. I don't think this will happen in my life time. I don't think it will be the end of the world--I just think it will be the end of our way of life.

I think the world will continue on as it has. Every generation or so some country will take over france, the USA will go through ups and downs, the UN will keep writing letters. There is sure to be a lot more space travel...perhaps some colonization in the next couple of generations.
other than that...who knows.

You are not in wrong : (I speak as Engineer now) World go to a standardisation of production. It's not recent : remember the first industrial black ford car. So it's really possible (and not as far as people think) the futur shoe will autosize to our own feet. Good note !

I like to think that Latin America will be the next new superpower. They'll get union rights, create an EU-like confederatoin, and the way the population demographics are going in the US, whites will become a whiney backwards little minority in a now thoroughly bilingual nation.
And then China will take over.
I'm not complaining because either way we eat well.

Also, the Air Force will demand that we build nuclear-powered space battleships to defend Jupiter from the Russian threat... oh wait, it already did in the 50's. Maybe the future is now!

In the future: The USA will finally outsource everything. There will be no jobs to be had, and, after the economy commits suicide, the rest of the world will collapse. The only survivors of this wreckage will be pirates sailing the open seas. They will pillage what they can from what is left of civilization and begin it a new.
