Okay, I got two people from China adding me to their contact list at random, anyone knows how this happens and why me? IT's flattering how out of millions of people with ICQ they choose me but also kinda wierd. Also then there's dpzens of "fake" people who try to sell me valium who I add to the ignore list.

Do you have your settings so it is "open for chat" and people can pick you at random? If so, it is probably spammers.

Change your security settings so only people on your contact list can contact you or so you have to approve anyone who wants to add you to their contact list.

umm... one of them is female, 13 years old so (I looked her contact info) and no they haven't asked about a green card. And there was a pause between each reply.
The other one is male and age 35 but he hasn't come online in awhile. geuss because its night time over there I think.

Sorry -- I didn't mean to sound snarky. Actually I was being a little tongue-in-cheek, but used the quick reply -- so I have no smilies with which to indicate my attitude...
However, you can never be too careful with this kind of thing - especially if it was a random contact.

I knew you could type them (and often do) in the regular reply window. I hadn't tried it in the quick reply window. But now I see at the left that UBB code IS enabled in this window.

Wow, ICQ. That takes me back. I don't think I've logged into it in ages. I certainly haven't used that monstrosity they call a chat client in millenia.
To my knowledge, a lot of those chinese people you are speaking to are sitting in class at school learning how to write in English. That's why you get so many of them all the time. It's been going on for years.

Farmgirl, yesterday I found that you can click the "Instant Graemlins" link to the left of the quick reply window--it calls up a window of smilies to use.

?? I slightly don't understand but she likes Mr Mao. Course I was going to ask her to join into our discussion but realizing she's 13-14-ish probly not a good idea.
