There are a few snippets of text that I would like to be able to map to a key combination (or a contextual menu button). It would be as though I had several different cut-and-paste clipboards.
The situation where I want this the most is when writing in forums such as this one. I use the firefox browser.
So does anybody know either A) something that will give me this capability in all of windows or B) How to write a little firefox extension to do this?

No, seriously. Could you do the programming yourself? You might go with the emacs solution, where the clipboard is a list, and a dropdown menu lets you select which item on the list you want to paste; or for efficiency you could bind the key combination Ctrl-n-V to 'list item n'. Or if you just need a few, how about Ctrl-n-C for 'copy to clipboard n'? This should involve, basically, copy-and-pasting the clipboard routines in Firefox.

I could probably write one myself, except that I wouldn't even know where to start building a firefox extension. I've done some searches, and didn't find anything useful.

Hmm.. I actually have MS Office on this computer although I rarely run it. I'm not familiar with the program you are talking about. What is it called?

Hmm. Come to think of it, there's a Microsoft tool called, IIRC, UItweaks, or TweakUI, or something of that sort. It's supposed to have support for a lot of things like multiple desktops, so maybe it has multiple clipboards too.

It's called the Office Clipboard. But now that I think about it, I'm not sure you can access it from Firefox; you're probably better off with one of the universal clipboard utilities linked above.
