Sigh. Same ol', same ol'. All of the options available to us are once again boiled down to "if you don't do it my way you must want the people of Iraq to die." More "for us or against us" rhetoric, and nothing to address the alternative options suggested or the whole torture thing.
On the other hand, just passed the first 9-11 reference. Drink! Drink!

*growls* I am shallow to be so angry about him interrupting Family Guy. I cannot listen to him. He makes me too angry. So instead I will watch Matrix 3 and FUME and know that terrorism cannot really be fought in this way.

I do have to admit he's been more open in recognizing difficulties lately, and this is a pretty good speech for his side.

Had he offered such comments, oh, about two years ago, he might not have lost so much support.

Exactly, Chris. And now, all I can say is "gag me." Isn't the timing just a bit weird? He has to make difficult decisions to protect us. Right. I wonder why he kept emphasizing that? Could it be the NY Times piece?

There is so much illogic in everything he says it's not funny. Fills me with rage everytime I listen to him.

(For the record, I support keeping troops there until Iraqi forces have more control, I just think it's been poorly handled from the beginning -- allowing looting, not enough troops with not enough armor at the beginning, rotating out experienced generals, good old boy contracting, torturing of prisoners, the waiving of the Geneva Convention, and the [until recently] refusal to admit there might be problems -- and that the admirable achievements made might have been even greater had the adminstration listened to people who actually knew how to wage war)
