quote:SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- Microsoft Corp. has embraced Novell Inc.'s open-source software platform, forming a technological truce between two longtime antagonists who want to make it easier for the still-dominant Windows operating system and the increasingly popular Linux system to work together.
The agreement announced Thursday between the world's largest seller of patent-protected software and a leader in the open-source software movement has potentially important business, technical and legal implications.
"This builds a very important intellectual-property bridge between the open source and proprietary sides of software," Brad Smith, Microsoft's general counsel, said shortly before the companies formally announced their alliance in San Francisco.

I would prefer anything Microsoft over the piece of c*** Groupwise Novell software my university uses. Or anything open-source. Really, just anything.
To be a little bit more on target with regards to the thread topic - I'm glad that Microsoft is jumping on the opensource bandwagon - I only hope they don't bring their (rightly or wrongly deserved)evil corporate stigma to it.

Did you mean to say that you would prefer anything Microsoft over anything that is made by Novell or any open source software, or did you mean to say that you would prefer Microsoft or open source software over anything by Novell? It seemed ambiguous to me.
