I could see Flash being ligher (as I tend to associate him with being more fun/humorous), but yeah you definitely don't want to make it too light or silly.

The reports that I've read have stated that: they don't want to make an all out comedy, they want it lighter than Batman Begins/Superman Returns, and they will probably be adapting Goyer's script rather than starting from scratch.
Not bad news at all. The Flash I'm familiar with is the animated one, and I like the lighter touch. And while Goyer's work on BB was very good he was paired with the talented Mr. Nolan. Compare that with the horrendous Blade Trinity (where he was left to his own devices) and the thought of his ideas in someone else's hands doesn't seem so bad.
But yeah, Shawn Levy? He recently delivered the huge hit Night at the Museum, but I'd wager more people saw it for the cast than any other reason. (That said, I haven't seen it. Was it any good?)
PS. Michael Rosenbaum for Wally.
