Trailer Link here

Between this and the new Hulk, I feel like Marvel is making it's motto "We're Marvel. And we have the budget to re-do it as often as necessary, dammit!"

At least this one isn't set in Florida.

Lionsgate holds the Punisher film rights, not Marvel Studios. They worked as a production company on it, but (unlike Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk) it's not one of "theirs", despite them owning the character.

Confusing enough? [Smile]

YES!!!

edit: After having seen it...don't know how I feel about the outfit. Definitely more realistic from a survivability standpoint for a rampaging vigilante to be wearing combat armor...but he really needs a leather jacket.

I actually liked the last movie. I get that there's a general animosity for it, but I don't know anything about the comic to compare. Is it just really unfaithful to how fans felt the character should have been portrayed?

Well, if this new one's *more accurate* then I guess it's a good thing I've never read the comics.

The comics aren't very good. They all have the same plot:

Bad guys: "YAHHHH! You'll never kill US, Frank Castle!"

The Punisher: *kills them*

End of story.

Ennis' portrayal of Castle in Vietnam was pretty well done, I thought.

Which always brings up a question: Did Frank take a sip of immortality serum, or what? [Wink]

(Ah, the joys of Marvel's sliding timeline.)

Heh. And we'll not even get into how old Bruce Wayne has to be if his family was coming out of The Mark of Zorro when his parents were gunned down...

(Nah, it was a "revival". I'm sure. [Roll Eyes] )

But, let's face it... At this point, superheroes occupy whatever era their writers find interesting.

Wait...if that film came out in 1940, and Batman began his career in 1939, how could he watch it as a little kid? [Confused]

*claws at head*

I really like the first Punisher. Even the florida setting didn't bother me because the Punisher is not always in NYC. I think they did a great job with it. I know it was over the top in some things but it had a more believeable feel to it.
This one has me worried...lots of neon colors and too many Matrix shots going on. Thomas Jane backed out of it because he thought it was not going to be a good movie
