But then that would show on the new post indicator -- even if they deleted it before I read it. Instead of saying no new posts... (at least, I would think it would)

It does, actually. I know the phantom bumper(s) has been at work when there's a white folder in among the yellow. [Wink]

You could probably check each person's list of most recent posts to find out who it was. I think deleted posts would still show up on that list, since it just tells you the thread.
