Am I just such a geek that I thought that Star Wars fandom had been fairly mainstream from the summer of 1977 on?

Nah, Noemon. It was. It's just that since the prequels have sucked out loud, it is now less than entirely mainstream. If you are not among the generation of 8 year olds who first saw Star Wars in 77 or 78, YMMV.

Here's a link to a spoiler pic I found. It is fairly grisly, but I don't know if it's real.

Ok, that picture is grisly and darkly humorous, what with the "order prints" button right over it.

[Eek!]
