I don't really have anything to add beyond what's already been posted, but I just wanted to say: Karl, you're a mensch. It's wonderful of you to undertake this to help your mom, and I hope that the amount of faith she's put in you is a sign that she's truly ready and able to go through with gaining her independence, and finally forcing your mooching siblings to grow up.
