I belong to the Churches of Christ...I've discussed it on occasion before, but the name can be awkward and doesn't lend itself to any term for individuals. I've gotten too used to everyone knowing already.

I'm not familiar with the group; an American offshoot, perchance? Any major theological differences with mainstream Lutherans?

*nods* The major stream of the Churches of Christ is American, beginning around 1800. However, since we believe the church is defined more by ideology than organization, we have groups that have been integrated from other countries. Not much presence in Europe, except in Britain.
Different from mainstream Lutheranism? Very much so, I think, though I'm not terribly familiar with Lutheranism. We tend to take the Bible quite literally but do not make use of a formal creed. Generally we do not hold to salvation by faith alone or original sin.
It can also be difficult to talk about what "we" teach because each of our congregations is autonomous; we have a very decentralized structure. There is a fairly broad agreement, but churches disagree on a variety of individual issues.
