It doesn't make sense to me, either, since as far as I know most of the people who joined "A Long Time Ago!" were imported with the rest of us into the new system.

My theory is that the first two batches imported didn't automatically create a registration date in the database, and that the admin noticed this and set the field default to Current for the other two batches. In this way, the early batches got fairly unique start dates. [Smile] But I could be wrong.

I remember back in...1998 or was it 1999. I know I was on the internet (undoubtedly using Netscape) at my highschool library (which actually burnt down in flames in 2002) and I remember I had signed up as unicornwhisperer but there was some maintenance on the website or something so I had to sign up again, so I might as well be member #114 for all I know. [Smile] So OSC could actually be Member #1.

Yeah, Tom, for that matter, how come your registration date isn't "A long time ago!"? Doesn't your membership predate this particular site?

fairly unique
You can't say that, Tom. You cant adverbise "unique", "perfect", "empty" and so on. Like you can't say "very dead", you can't say "fairly unique". Sorry, but it's colloquialism! One can't give amounts to absolute things.

But still - no-one is admin, except Kristine, to the best of our knowledge! No ownership has been detected, and I'm sincerely worrying [Angst] !

One could learn something from OSC's ("Obviously Suggesting (a) Conpiracy", said SteveRogers) absence!

As I said, I was not in the first batch of alphabetical names imported. *grin* I think that error was only perpetuated in the early batches, AFAIK.

Pish posh. He just did say it, so that proves that you can. And obviously, if he quantified something absolute, then it wasn't really being used in an absolute manner.

Here you will find a list of the first 209 members of the forum, along with registration date (it is password-protected: user hatrack, password osc209). (Mods, if you'd rather me not post such things, I'll gladly take it down.)

As you can see, the first 121 names are in case-sensitive alphabetical order, with [A-Z] being listed before [a-z]. Only 13 of these have registration dates that are not "A Long Time Ago!" (myself included). Tod OConnell (82) has the earliest actual registration date, of September 15, 1998. Yozh (88) has the latest registration date of these first 13: April 23, 1999. Clearly the "new forum" got off to a slow start. Note that these first 13 are not in order by registration date, but are mixed in with the import. After this, additional registrations are in order by registration date as far as I can tell.

It is possible that there were multiple imports, but the most recent one would have reordered everyone alphabetically. The last one (if there were more than one) presumably happened some time between April 23 and May 14, 1999.

Hmm... Nostalgic.

Nostalgia is not what it used to be, however, *sigh*.
