This is so true. I see parents in meetings, who are just horrified to learn that their children have mental health issues, and refuse medication or therapy because they feel there is a stigma to it.
I hardly ever watch Oprah, but I caught Brooke Shields on her show last week, and was brought to tears. She has suffered terribly from post partum depression, and much of her suffering was due to denial that she had a problem, or shame and embarrassment over the problem she knew she had.
