I'm definitely staying Friday and Saturday nights; I haven't decided about Sunday night. Basically, if there's stuff going on Sunday, I'll stay. (That Monday there will almost certainly not be regular classes for me to teach, as this year's school production is Tuesday night.)
So, are we planning to have stuff going on Sunday? Or are most people just hightailing it back home?

I'm also interested in rooming with someone!
Definitely for Friday and Sat. nights. Maybe Thurs. night or Sun. night, too... I'm going to be getting one of those Amtrak rail passes, so I'm going to be pretty flexible about traveling.

I'll have a better idea in about a week or so (I may have a bit of a time pinning the idea down; my schedule will be hectic the first week of classes, which is next week).

Yikes. Since I'm dashing in for less than a 48 hour visit, I've decided that (if I end up going) I don't want to drive more than 2 hours to get to the hotel/wedding. I want to spend more time with YOU guys.
(Is there a specific reason you were mentioning St. Louis Tom? Do you think I could find connections up to Des Moines and have them be cheaper?)

Um... by a quick read of the thread, the only people who have confirmed which hotel they're staying at are Tom & Christy (and Sophie, I would assume). Have any others finalized location? We wanna stay where most everyone else will be, assuming it's feasible. And once we make our hotel reservations, I'll feel more like our attendance is a done deal rather than a likelihood.
It's pretty close to definite that (assuming we go, and yes, Mama already got the time off work) we'll be staying in Minn., renting an SUV or minivan, driving down Saturday morning, and driving back Sunday afternoon. If that squares with anyone else's travel plans, we can probably give someone a ride. Maybe two someones if things work out. I can't make any guarantees at this point, unfortunately.

I am DEFINITELY going to this. I don't the dates I'll be traveling, though - the current plan is to go to Chicago and drive down with AJ. There's a choice of hotels? Hmm...I need to plan. And get money.

Bob and I will be traveling to Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. Want to give us a ride?
As far as I know, Hatrack folks are all staying at the Memorial Union, which was not listed on the hotel information that went out with the invitations. It's the Top Secret Hatrack Hotel. Various family and colleague groups are fighting it out over the other three hotel blocks.

That was my thought. It's a different set of airlines down there, and the prices may vary.

So, Dana, are you keeping the Hatrack people secret from the family, or the family secret from Hatrack?

Okay - I'm going to call this Memorial Union place if that block of rooms isn't already all taken up.. does anyone know if it they are any still available? On page 2 dkw said she had only blocked 7 rooms, and it looks like there are already many more than that coming.
Is everyone else blocking for Friday AND Saturday nights?
posted
No, no, no, 7 suites and 8 regular rooms. Or maybe the other way around. And we can add more regular rooms to the block as it fills up, as long as there are any available.
And the people aren't secret, just the location.

Just Saturday here. We're leaving early Saturday morning and coming back whenever on Sunday, depending on what's happening and how much xanax I have left.

I thought I had done this. Perhaps in the other thread. Cor and I are definitely coming, and we have reserved our room at the union.
What's this about a secret Hatrack hotel? Is it nicer than the other hotels, or less nice?
EDIT: It wasn't that hard to find the answer to my own question instead of waiting for someone else to do it for me . . .

Ummm... Dana? Can you talk to God about making the wedding day as pretty as this picture? Because it would be a lot easier for driving and all, ya know.
And I know it can still snow bucket fulls in April in Iowa...

The book store is only open 10 - 5 on Saturday and not at all on Sunday. And the food court? Everything is closed on Sunday and only open till 2 on Saturday. ('cept Subway, they're open till 6 and Commons Dining Room? It seems to be open, but I don't know what it is.)

I don't know what the Commons Dining Room is either. They've remodeled and added the food court since I was an ISU student. But there are lots and lots of cheap places to eat within walking distance. It is a university campus, after all.

Anyone want to room with me? Preferably people who don't plan on sleeping much and won't mind peer pressuring Nathan to dance for us.

Kayla, if it will help I can show you secret passages and hiding places at the church, in case you need to get away from everybody.

Ooh, secret passages. I don't know if that's a good thing (escape) or a bad thing (sneak attack.) Paranoia is a wonderful thing.

This is the right place, neh? I can't seem to find any info on the difference between a suite and a room (other than the price ).

Has anyone decided whether there will be things going on Sunday? I can fly out on Monday since I won't have school. But there's no point if everyone else is leaving.
