Well, I made a big mistake. I watched a dvd on my computer using headphones. It was late and I didn't want to disturb the hubby.
Unfortuneately, I used the headphones that go to my MP3 player. The ones with the handy built-in magnet. <insert STUPID emoticon here>
Now, the good news (for ME) is that I did not loose any of my writing, and very little of the writing of others that I owe reviews to (and all those are on a yahoo mailing list sitye, so I can get 'em).
Good news #2 is that the computer was a birthday present, and since I've only had it since June, the company will replace the hard drive for free.
Good news number three is that I think I will be able to save most of the info I wanted to save from my email program, by doing a hard copy of my contacts, etc.
However, certain email folders have been lost entirely, incuding my list of emails for people who were reading my novel. That may be good news for some of you who were hoping for a graceful way to back out without hurting my feelings. But if you want chapter 7 (which should be ready by the end of the week provided the exchange of hard drives goes well) you'll have to let me know.
Also, all my role-playing games and emails related to mafia are gone. None of that has been terribly active anyway, but I couldn't participate now, anyway. At least not until I get an email from the group. I also lost my most recent character sheet.
And I can't send out any email at the moment, either. Which is why I made this thread.

Yikes! I hope you manage to recover everything you need.
If we do want to continue reading, do we send you an e-mail now, wait 'til you get the new drive, or just post in this thread?

You can email me now, I guess. The deal is that my email provider still works, and the email will go to their server. I won't be able to download it until I get stuff squared away.
That goes for WenchCon stuff, too.

I'm sorry to hear about the computer upheaval, but it sounds like it was not nearly as bad as it could have been. I'd love to read chapter 7 when it's ready. I can't remember if I responded back to you after the last installment you send me a while back, but I really love it and have been anxiously waiting more.

Always back up. Always. I'm glad you didn't lose anything terribly important, though. I have things on my computer that I know I'd hate to lose!
