Okay, so I'm getting ready for a trip to Europe this summer. I was planning the England leg of the trip around the Wireless Fesival in Leeds. I wanted to make sure everything was going to work first, so I booked the plane tickets and the hotel rooms and scheduled everything else necessary to make sure I'd be able to use the concert tickets before I bought them.
So I got everything ready and went to the site today to buy tickets. Day 1 (Massive Attack and DJ Shadow) was available, but Day 2 (The Who and Flaming Lips) was sold out. Bummer, right?
So I went to Google to see what other options I had. I came across a site called Lastminute. They list tickets available, and I put them in my cart and went all the way to checkout, but I didn't dare give them my credit card number. I've never heard of this site, and I'm trying to figure out how they can have freely available tickets to a sold-out gig.
It's a couple extra dollars, which I don't mind paying (after everything else I've put down to see The Who, an extra $15 in processing won't stop me). But I don't want to give my credit card number to the site if it's a scam. Has anyone heard of this site before? Does anyone more wise in the ways of this stuff know how this company could have these tickets to sell?
If anyone's smarter than me, any advice or info would be appreciated. Thanks, Hatrack.

And by the way, if anyone is going to be in the Midlands in late June and wants to hang out with a Jatraquero at a Massive Attack show, we'll be there.

I think most venues sometimes hold tickets back to sell at the box office day-of. They may also sell group tickets to ticket brokers. *shrug* I don't think it's so unusual for this site to have tickets available.

Companies often buy large amounts of tickets in advance so they can sell them at higher prices later. For some reason it's not illegal when they do it...

Lastminute.com is safe - I bought plane tickets for a weekend in Ireland through them a few years ago when I was studying in London, and there were no problems whatsoever. I just wish the US had a site like that!
Where else are you going? And how long is your trip? I'm travel-deprived at present, so I'm living vicariously.

We're going to Germany (Frankfurt, Berlin and some small towns) first, then we're flying into Manchester, staying there for a couple days, then three days in Lincoln and three days in Leeds.
We've been to Lincoln before, and it's absolutely gorgeous, not to mention that it's not a tourist cesspool so an American accent actually gets you favourable attention rather than sneers. We've never seen the other two cities, but we've been reading up on them, and I'm incredibly excited to check them out.
If anyone here has any tips on what to see in any of those places, please share. We've found enough stuff to keep us busy, but inside info always trumps anonymous internet research.
pH:
June 24th:
Massive Attack
Goldfrapp
Pharrell
DJ Shadow
Gnarls Barkley (the new band with Cee-Lo and DJ Danger Mouse)
Terry Gallier
June 25th:
The Who
The Flaming Lips
The Zutons
The Eels
Super Furry Animals
Robyn Hitchcock and the Minus 3
I'm such a huge fan of Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, The Who and Flaming Lips that I'd have been seriously tempted to fly to England to see any one of them alone. And with all four of them, there's no way to turn it down.

Yeah, we were really excited. Then last night we busted out our Freaks & Geeks DVDs and watched Dead Dogs and Gym Teachers, and now we're incredibly, insufferably excited.

I think they are having some sort of reunion and they may not all be there, but yeah the Who still performs once in a while.

John Entwistle and Keith Moon are gone, but Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are going to be there.

Lastminute.com is real - I use it all the time to book restaurants and flights etc - very reliable in fact, and often surprisingly good price-wise.
Will you be in London at all?

I think most of the population of England is here in Central Florida this week, so you might not get a reply for a while.
