Just blogged about taking the boys to go see Kevin Smith speak at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando on Saturday.
He was scheduled to speak from 2 to 4, with the warning that he usually went long. We arrived at 12 to get seated and waited in a massive line for over an hour before we got inside. My older son ran out to grab some snacks to gobble because food and drink weren't allowed in the hall. The younger son and I had eaten at 10, we were good.
Smith came out around 2:30 and started answering questions right away, and he kept going for six and a half hours. It was a hilarious talk and a test of endurance for everyone involved, and now I'm sore, tired, and happy.
Favorite quote: (On "Superman Returns" and Superman never punching anybody in the whole movie) "Turns out Jon Peters was right, the movie would have benefited from a huge spider."

I really need to pay more attention to things going on in Orlando. I would've loved to have seen Kevin Smith. 'One of us'.

Well, as near as I can tell from the first DVD, every talk is a little different. Worth renting, at least.

If you are a Kevin Smith (or Jay and Silent Bob fan), I highly recommend reading his epic blog posts about Jason Mewes' (Jay) battle with heroin.

I saw him talk at MegaCon just before the first one came out, and there was a lot of repetition. Not enough that the DVD wasn't well worth getting, but... Randal's spiel in "Clerks 2" on "Lord of the Rings" just being a lot of walking? He gave it to us at MegaCon several years previous, almost word for word.
Funnier was the the question someone asked afterwards: "What would you do if someone paid you $300 million to make a movie?" He responded "Make the cheapest damn movie you ever heard of," and he made over-dramatized pocketing motions.
