I remember reading about this kid, and I am glad there is a video actually showing it. WOW, I've read studies about folks via electrodes being hooked up to sonar and being able to do similar things but this kid is just awesome. I almost wish I could work out how to do this on my own so I could move around in the dark.

The news reporter is exactly right, his mother SHOULD teach other women with blind children how to help them.

That's a cool video. What a great attitude that kid and his mother have!

I saw a similar story about an older blind man who learned echolocation. What amazes me is that it's possible, but only two humans (AFAIK) have mastered it.

Blackblade, actually it was a doctor who said the mother should teach others how to raise blind kids. He's right, she should.

Oh thanks for the correction.

That kid is freaky. I saw a news story today about a guy with only partial legs, who uses prosthetics to run competitively. The running guy seemed like he was kicking butt, until I saw this kid.

I almost don't believe it, except that he HAS NO EYES!

"What amazes me is that it's possible, but only two humans (AFAIK) have mastered it."

I recall a news story years ago about a group of blind bicyclists who use those popping toys for echolocation to nagivate around tree's and the like. I found it rather cool.

I remember the same story about the blind bicyclists from a couple years back. As I remember, they were doing the old card in the spokes trick to help them ecolocate.

What a great mother. [Smile]

And a wonderful kid, of course.
