Really ain't the same as the old non-linked Hatrack threads where ya hadda bust through the MI6 employee-recruitment webpage to reach their mainframes to hack into the CIA's Carnivore to find the proper access code to get in.

My method was looking at Icarus' recent posts and finding where he made the topic. It left an underscore as a link. Now that it's in my profile since I've posted in it, I just go through my own.

I click on the next or the preceding topic, and then click on "Previous" or "Next" to get in. One could also learn this thread's number--looks like it's 047626--and then click on another thread and replace its number with this one and press enter. Of course, once the topic hits two pages, it becomes easy to get in.

(And no, this thread's title is not an underscore. The underscore you're seeing on the list is the underscore used to indicate a hyperlink.)

You can also tab to it. It doesn't show anything highlighted, but you can get there that way nonetheless. I just did. Posts: 4077 | Registered: Jun 2003

In the top left corner, next to Hatrack River Forum, where it says the title of the topic it shows three rectangles. A clue! (I'll figure this one out, you just wait)

Now that there are two pages, not only do I see page number links, but I also see a topic link.

Now that this thread isn't cool and exclusive anymore, I'm gonna go hang out somewhere else. Or maybe I need to bring in the girls from nationals to have a little talk with you people.

You're as big a snob as this guy named Porter who temporarily lost his interest in Middle-Earth when it became accessible to the illiterate masses.
He's coming around, though, I'm pleased to announce.

Actually all I did to get in was click on the thread title and open the thread in a new tab, like I always do. My web browser paused for a second, and tried to open some other application (failed to open before I could see what), and then the thread loaded. I use Mac OS 10.4.8, Safari 2.0.4
So, I guess I cheated.
Edit: Oh! I was only able to do that because it hit page 2. I see. Should have kept reading.
