I'm going to begin a unit (this is high school English) using sections of _The Worthing Saga_. I'll be using mostly stories from the _Chronicle_.

Does anyone have any materials they're willing to share? Ideas?

What hooked me was the way this novel attempts to address the question of theodicy ("how can a benevolent deity allow evil," etc).

I don't have any ideas, but it sounds like a great class. Good luck!

Sounds like an interesting class, LoW. You may have better luck in getting feedback if you post this thread to the Discussions about Orson Scott Card forum.

Would you believe The Worthing Saga is not available anywhere within the Omaha Public Library system?

While still in high school, I hear about an English teacher using a Lord of the Rings MUD (text-based, multiplayer game, fyi) to help teach the books. Now I see an English teacher using Orson Scott Card books. Why couldn't I be so lucky? [Frown]

How about The Worthing Chronicles, Hotsleep, or Capitol?

Nope, none of them either.

Thanks for the offer, Valentine. I think I'm just gonna buy it though. I mean really, am I going to regret it?

Regret it? Oh no! But what a great way for me to contribute to the Omaha Public Library. I think I will donate a copy.

You probably won't regret it, although I personally prefer Hot Sleep (which is available in the first issue of Intergalactic Medicine Show (for only $2.50)).

Worthing is probably the best work OSC has done. IMO.
