So... my daughter missed the bus this morning, and it took me about 2 hours to drive her down to school and get back home. At which point I had to change and go to the funeral of a friend who died yesterday morning of breast cancer at the age of 55.
A woman I know is being ripped to teeny tiny little pieces in the press and on blog after blog because she's a professor at Yeshiva University and just came back after transitioning MTF. The venom in some venues is just breathtaking.
Work is insane. My boss just made me create a licensing gizmo to put into one of the apps I created because one of our customers is dragging their feet about paying us, and said customer is a trifle unhappy.
There's a leak in our A/C evaporation coil, and getting just the coil replaced will run about $1400, while getting a new A/C unit will be between $3100 and $3800. And this unit is close to the end of its life anyway, and still uses freon.
One of our people at work let a customer upgrade one of their apps that our apps work off of, and since the upgrade includes major schema changes, suddenly our apps are crashing.
So... how's your day going?

Hey- my husband just called me to let me know our AC isn't working anymore either. Like at the same time you posted, he called. We haven't had a repair guy out yet so not sure what it will cost.

Started the day off with diarheia (sp and TMI) I missed the train because of it because at the supermarket I had to duck into the bathroom as soon as possible. I had to go to another office several times to pick up papers, drop off another pile, a mistake was made. I tried to correct it. Nothing worked Trees wept. So finally the boss had to go and do it and managed to get it done in 10 minutes where it took me hours because I just do not know much about double sided printing. I feel a bit less sick, so that is good, but it might have been a better idea to just stay home and rest.

Yeah well, the fuel pump in my car crapped out in the middle of nowhere between vegas and LA and had to be towed to a shop that charged 650 for after hours service, and I spent 20 hours in transit between Vegas and Sacramento in one day.

Well, it luckily worked out to be only $160. My brother says that I paid within reason- higher then he would have charged someone but not to the realm of being ripped off. He's in a different state so I couldn't have him fix it.

I'm re-stringing a Steinway piano at school, and I'm the slowest in my class (I've never been in class like that). I accidentally put in 12 strings that were the wrong size piano wire (about 1 hours work to be redone). I broke a string and scratched the finish of the inner rim (costing me time/money to repair later). And to top it off, I hit my hand with a hammer while trying to drive tuning pins. It hurt.
Though, I have to admit, compared to you guys, my day was fantastic. I get to listen to music ALL DAY--and I'm working with PIANOS. It's unbelievably awesome. I simply can't complain.
Hope things go better tomorrow, Lisa!

Lesseee.. in chronological order from yesterday morning to this afternoon...
- Dad is in "heart failure" and will likely have to have another surgery.
- Sassy and Nona might have to go back to the birth mother through no fault of ours. Can't give details because of legal and privacy issues, but I can't express my anger and frustration without bursting into tears.
- $450 electric bill... a new record!
- Bill from the IRS asking for more money from 2006.

Thanks for putting things in perspective, everyone. It's not that misery loves company, but things could definitely be worse.
