I had been wondering when and if there would ever be any more series such as the Shadow series in the sense that they revolve around Battle School, but from a different perspective. Apparently, there are now other series in production. Unfortunately I was unable to find out which children or adults, as it may be, do these series revolve around. Do any of you Hatrackers in the loop have any inside information.
Unfortunately I won't be able to offer you any finder's fee for the information, since it could be seen as a bribe for furthur insight. [Smile]

I'm not sure, other then to finish the Shadow series with SoTG. I do think that a new series, in Achilles perspective would really show off OSC's flexibility in writing (hint).

Not that I am in the know or anything, but I would bet a hefty amount that this will never happen.

The whole Shadow series came about not because he thought it would be extremely marketable, but because he accidentally discovered that he had a cool story to tell.

Thank goodness.

My claim came from the forward of the paperback version of Ender's Shadow, but it has also been reaffirmed on the philiotic web as of the 15th of November. I would suspect that more information is forthcoming, but until then we are left to speculate.

It is also important to note that this project idea began a long time ago before OSC wrote Ender's Shadow. Bean's story was in fact supposed to be written by another author. In these new series OSC will unfortunately not be the author, but he will still okay the ones that get written.

I'm thinking you read it optimistically. Otherwise you wouldn't be asking? The movie studio has license to make other Battle school stories. I know there will not be novelizations of movies of OSC works, but I'm not sure about novelizations of movies in the Enderverse

All it says is:
quote:
A series of young adult books, which would take place before Ender, are being developed. These books would focus on other children who could have been the one. While OSC will not be writing these books, they will be approved by him.

I take that to mean that they will be written, but not necessarily soon. I'm really curious to see who will be writing them.

I wonder if they will write about Pinual (the one who committed suicide). I wonder if the Formics tried to build a bridge to him as well, there could be another Jane type being.

So, will this be as successful as "Isaac Asimov's Robot City," do you think?
