Looks like #4 is on the way. Kind of a shock. Haven't told anyone IRL yet (but of course I couldn't wait to come here)

Sorry, I always read just the "Roman" in your name and not the rest (since we don't have anyone else by a similar name). So I didn't catch the "lass" and assumed you were male. Anyways, I'm not a big fan of the hysterectomy. I'm not a doctor in any way, but I feel like the entire removal of an internal organ to prevent pregnancy is a little drastic. It seems like the vasectomy is a much better plan since it, as far as I have read/heard, reversable and far less intrusive.
Just my thoughts on the issue, but four kids seems like a lot to deal with. I'm getting married and thinking about kids, and the idea of having more than two scares me half to death.

Okay, sorry. I didn't get all that neato sex ed all you public school kids did. So I read a bunch into it.
Here's an interesting point...
quote:A vasectomy, performed in minutes with a local anesthetic, is faster, easier, less expensive and poses much less risk for complications to men than does a tubal ligation for women, which must be performed under general anesthesia, requires a longer recovery period and is more expensive.
It's from vasectomy.com so it's obviously biased, but it does seem more fair. I mean, (avoiding obvious terms that might freak out some hatrackers) the equipment certainly provides easier access for the male than for the female. I don't see why the woman should have to be the one operated on. I've certainly thought about having a vasectomy after a couple of children. Geez. I'm thinking about this kind of stuff. I'm getting old.
Women don't have hysterectomies as a contraceptive measure. We can have a tubal ligation, which interrupts the movement of the egg through the fallopian tube. Nothing is removed. It's still considered major surgery, and is a bit more dangerous than the vasectomy, but nothing as drastic as that.

Congratulations, romanylass! 4 is a good number - I'm the 3rd of 6.
One thing I've always wondered is why people even joke about sterilization when they hear about the number of children someone has. My parents got this all the time.
