When I go to Google Maps lately, I get a dialogue box saying it's installing something from or for Word 2000. This has only happened since I installed Word on my laptop. Before that, I only ever used WordPerfect. If I let it run its course, it says it can't find the driver or something for Word. I usually just end up hitting Cancel so it will load the Google Maps page without trying to do anything with Word.
Why on earth would Google Maps and Word be linked at all? Also, this happens on some other sites I don't use as often, though I can't remember what they are.

I doubt it's a driver problem. It's probably an optional browser plug-in installed as part of Microsoft Office. Do you still have your installation disk for Word?

Reinstall Google maps. Sometimes a shared .dll file causes the issue, and if the Word version is older than the Google maps version than it can cause this error.

Not having the key code shouldn't be an issue. If you want to get rid of this message at that point, put the CD in your drive when it pops up the message. It will install whatever add-in off of the CD without you needing the key and it should stop the message from coming up.

This is common, and sometimes popping the CD in won't fix it.
Typically, the only way to fix this issue is to run the Office 2000 installation and do a complete install. This will install all of the little plug-ins and modules that Office is missing and keep it from asking for the CD over and over again.
You should be able to do this without the CD key with the software already installed and verified.

She was talking about the Google Maps website, not the Google Earth application.
