I listen to several radio stations, each liking to play their same 20 songs over and over again. When bored I've taken to playing games with the music.

First it was, make a story out of the next three songs they play.

Then it was, what would it take to make this a song of homosexual love. The winner for taking the least changes to make it a Pro-Gay Marriage statement was--those wild kids--The Beach Boys, singing "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" You have a group of males singing about how nice it would be if they were older and could legally fool around. We assume they are singing this lament to their girl friends, but they could be just singing it to each other (we leave the brothers part of this out of the discussion).

Boy 1, "...And we could get married."
Boy 2, "And the we'd be happy."
Boy 1 & 2 in harmony, "And wouldn't it be nice."

But my most recent game is thinking who on the crew of Serenity could be singing the song.

You have romantic but troubled couple, the long standing couple, the new (as of the movie) couple, even the ex-wife songs.

My newest winner, "The Boys Are Back In Town" sung by...the Reavers. I could just picture a reaver attack on some poor town that suddenly breaks into a song and dance number. It is so Wes.

Mal singing "Sixteen tons"

"If you see me coming better step aside.
A lot of men didn't a lot of men died.
One fist of iron, one fist of steel.
If the right one don't a-get ya then the left one will."

Wash: "Somewhere over the Rainbow" while playing the ukulele.

Or Westside Story's "I feel pretty."

Edit to add.
Now I really want to hear Alan Tudyk sing somewhere over the rainbow, for some reason I feel he would do very well indeed.

In retrospect some songs were probably inspired by homosexual love to begin with.
