Although I am a bit of a lurker at Hatrack these days, I thought it would be nice to give some people an update on what I am up to these days. I got word back on Friday that I was accepted at the University of Virginia Law School, which makes me happy as it was the program I was shooting for. Bit of a different world than where I was when I started posting on Hatrack: a 19 year old private in the Army with no idea what he wanted to do.

Yeah, they are ranked 9th in the nation at the moment (tied with UC Berkeley) and have generally been considered one of the premier law schools in the country. To put it in perspective, UVA is considered a much better program than Georgetown, Cornell, Duke, and Northwestern. They have some amazing professors and I love the area. It also doesn't hurt that they have amazing job placement.
I would certainly be up for saying hi to any Hatrackers in the area.

UVA is a fantastic law school - I have a friend there.
As a 3L, all I have to say is best wishes, and get the heck out of this profession as soon as you can.

I feel you Armoth. The market for lawyers is so terrible right now, but I am aiming to return to Minnesota to practice rather than DC or NY big law. I have a mentor who graduated from Vanderbilt in the top 10% of her class and worked DC big law and HATED it. Now she works for a smaller firm and is much happier. My ultimate goal is to work as a prosecutor with an emphasis on white collar crime(hopefully for the USAO).
How are things at Fordham? I know that the latest OCI in the Midwest was terrible as the market in Chicago is pretty dried up and all the kids at Notre Dame, WUSTL, etc. are hurting.
