I write mostly SF but I just wrote a short story (3k words) about a young man who is abused by his stepfather and ends up shooting him. No gore or graphic violence (he just wounds him). It mostly centers on the father?s drinking and the boy?s response to it.

My problem is I don?t know what markets might be looking for this kind of work. If the stepfather was an alien I have all kinds of places it might find a home, but it is a slice of life sort of thing.

Any ideas out there? I?m new to the group and I think you guys are great.
