I swear to God this is no joke: Hanson Robotics has made a Philip K. Dick android!
Designed to "invent new ideas" and have realistic conversations with passersby, the Philip K. Dick replicant is making its public debut in Chicago today.

An animatronic Dick could answer a few questions, but if it's authentic, the answers won't make much sense!

But how accurate is this android? If left to its own devices, will the android invent a sub-personality in order to view the events of its life with detached objectivity, only to see that personality split off to write thousands of pages of material it (the original android) has no recollection of writing? Will the android then accuse itself of setting fire to its papers and flash out in some kind of drug-frenzy? Will the android love animals? How many wives will the android have?

I think Dick, like OSC, was one of perhaps the best four or five science fiction writers who ever lived. Certainly I'd put him in the top writers 10 of the twentieth century (in any genre).
But that doesn't mean I can't make fun of him, a little.
