I just recieved a spreadsheet showing the results from a quasi-scientific ballistics test I participated in, using lots (and I mean lots) pumpkins and a variety of common handgun rounds. The test confirmed a few interesting facts, like the general lack of power in handgun rounds generally (in some cases, like the .38 special, it was stunning how little penetration the rounds were able to achieve even on a pumpkin) and the surprising lack of meaningful difference between the terminal ballistics of common "duty" rounds like 9mm, .40, and .45 acp.

If anyone wants the results (or my interpretation of them) to assist with their gun-related scenes, drop me a line. I'm happy to share.

Interesting facts. I have absolutely no experience with firearms; never even held anything except a pellet gun. The only experience I have comes from Fallout games. Thinking about calliber, armor penetration and such things is something that appeals to the methodical side of my brain. I will have to gather some experience on this soon.

Yeah, pass it around. I'd be interested to see what the data says.
