It's that time of the week again, time for the kick in the pants. The idea is that having somewhere to report progress will spur you on to make some. So I'm posing the question to all of us here. Did you write this week? As we have been reminded in the past, writing for the purposes of this thread can mean just about anything you want. You did some editing? Report it here. Outlining, pre-writing or any other kind of prep work? Sure, that counts too. And, of course, writing new work always counts.
Still pounding away at the revisions of this novella. The end is in sight however, as I'm down the the last 5k. Since I started the revisions, this sucker has grown from 17.5k words to 27.2k. I wish I could say I'd be the least bit surprised to hit 30k by the time I'm done, but that would be a lie. That said, it's much better than it was (I think), it's all worth it.
I've also been thinking over the last novel I wrote, Unmasked, and have been making revision notes. I don't think I'm happy with it but not sure. I haven't read it and maybe it's better than I thought. I can dream right?
I had a couple of new story ideas occur, one being, of all things, a story for a younger audience. Not sure how young yet, but it's still odd for me, as I write exclusively in the adult bracket. We'll see what happens with that. Also a bunch of notes on projects in the planning stages. One novel is particularly trying to feed me the beginning. I'm debating whether I want to listen any further than making notes at this point.
As usual, there were a few blog posts that I put up. I also did a crit for a friend.
So that's it for me. How about you? Did you write?
December and January were a wash while I edited my Dad's ninth crime novel and spent one weekend dedicated to another Hatrack alum's newest story (it's good though should be a novel).
This past week, my daughter visited from LA (where she's striving for her big break as a Music producer/Audio Engineer), and we had the parade of family and friends to see her, I was finally able to get my own writing fires slowly stoked by doing a re-read of my Oct and Nov 2012 novelettes (and converting them to "freekindle.mobi" format to view on my Kindle--pretty neat). Then the past two days I procrastinated in choosing between onee of my works-in-progress, chose one by lot, and dashed out a thousand painful words and then plotted the next scene and flashback, which I am this very moment continuing...
...from bed (after a semi-feverish workday).
I've worked at my two hospitals throughout the height of flu season, but a few days with family and I've picked up a cold virus. And, per Murphy's law, this comes as I begin a twelve day work stretch with 5 nights of call and short-staffing while my partners with young children take off school vacation week. oy.
Respectfully, Dr. Bob

Still washed out. Tired and lack of serious time, added to the difficulty of just starting something going. If I can't get it together on that poem / lyric by next week, I'm gonna try starting something else.

I added about a chapter and-a-half this week to BAUDWYNN AND THE RISING STAR, my current WIP about a wizard with ADHD.
I'm a satirist, but I usually have the character's absurdity to speak for itself, in the manner P.G. Wodehouse's "Jeeves" stories. The narrator takes the characters' predicaments as seriously as they do. BAUDWYNN is an experiment with using a much more jaded and opinionated narrator, more along the lines of Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett.

That sounds interesting.

Two blog posts, about 500 words (which is not much for me; I aim for 10K per month), and a request for a special short-short story that intrigued me enough to start an outline. I'm hoping to finish the outline this weekend so I can get started on the writing itself.
