I'm new to this. I worked with some online writers' workshops years ago, and I had some bad experiences with them, but I did some research, and this site seemed to be better than what I'd experienced before. I've been trying my hand at fiction for years with little success. My poetry has appeared in a few lit mags, but I've struggled with finishing and ironing out the details on a novel or a short story. They're either too long to publish as short fiction, or I lose track of what's going on in a novel. I've got back into fiction in the past couple of years, and I wanted to find a community for workshopping and getting ideas and suggestions, so here I am.

A story is as long as it needs to be. A lot of time you can cut things out and the story will be better for it, but don't be afraid to write your story exactly as you feel it should be. Reading trends are changing a lot now a days and people are reading a lot of Novellas now a days.
